The upcoming iPhone 17 Air is expected to be all about sleekness – getting the thinnest iPhone ever, though at the expense of specifications.
Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo surprised everyone earlier this year when he suggested that the device may be even thinner than expected, and his view has now been echoed by another leaker …
5.5mm without the camera bar
Kuo said in January that the device will be around 5.5mm at its “thinnest part.”
The 2H25 ultra-thin iPhone (with the thinnest part around 5.5mm) and the foldable iPhone […] may ship in higher volumes than the iPhone Plus, it likely won’t significantly boost iPhone sales overall, partly due to downgraded components paired with a high price and a user experience similar to current models.
That rider is because of the camera bump – or rather what we’re this year expecting to be a camera bar, running almost the full width of the phone despite containing only a single camera.
This is significantly slimmer than the approximate 6.25mm numbers doing the rounds earlier.
9.5mm with it
Leaker i Ice Universe today endorses that 5.5mm figure, and says that the camera bar will be 4mm thick. This would make the phone 9.5mm at its thickest part.
The camera bulge of iPhone 17 Air is 4.0mm, plus the body is 9.5mm in total.
In Imperial measurements that would be approximate 0.22 inches in the body and 0.37 inches at the top.
