Google Home for iPhone adding Favorites homescreen widget

google home app

After coming to Android earlier this year, Google Home now offers widgets that let you quickly control smart devices from your homescreen on iPhone and iPad.

This Favorites widget offers “Quick control of your actions, automations, and devices.” It consists of tappable tiles in small (4), medium (8), and large (9-12) configurations. Each card has an icon, name, and device state. What devices appear and their order matches the first tab of the Google Home app.

For lighting, blinds, and other similar smart items, you can tap the tile to turn on/off directly from your homescreen. Other tiles, as marked by a chevron in the corner, open the device control page, while thermostats and sensors note the temperature directly.

We’re seeing the widgets rolled out with version 3.24.101 of Google Home for iPhone and iPad. You might have to join the Public Preview program to access them.
